An Online Nursing Program Designed for Working Nurses
How long does it take to complete the program?
The RN-BSN online degree is a completion program. Time to completion varies based on the courses students have previously completed. Full-time students, on average, can complete the RN-BSN online degree in about 12-18 months with continuous enrollment. To be considered full-time, a student must be enrolled in at least six credit hours each 8-week term. Part-time students can complete the degree requirements in about three years with continuous enrollment.
Is financial aid available?
Yes. To be eligible for federal financial aid, you must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours each 8-week term. For more information about financial aid, please visit our Financial Aid page.
Are clinicals required?
There are no clinical requirements in the RN-BSN program..
Is proctoring required for exams?
There are no proctored exams. Quizzes and exams are completed in the online classroom.
How much time is required each week to complete course assignments?
Expect to spend approximately 15 hours each week for one 3-credit hour course.
How often will I need to come to the main campus?
You will do all coursework online. You may participate in nursing pinning and graduation ceremonies on the main campus in Leavenworth, Kansas, which take place in May, but this is not required.
Do you offer any other BSN programs?
Yes, the University of Saint Mary also offers a traditional face-to-face BSN and a 12-month accelerated BSN. Learn more about these programs.
Do you offer a Master of Science in Nursing online program?
Yes! We now offer an online MSN program. The program offers two specializations: Nurse Educator and Nurse Administrator. Some completed RN-BSN courses can meet MSN requirements.
What is the tuition rate for online courses?
Tuition for the RN-BSN is currently $490 per credit hour, which includes a technology fee for online courses. Please note that tuition and fees are subject to change.
Are there other costs besides books and tuition?
Refer to the Tuition & Costs page for information about all tuition and fees (e.g. graduation, ordering transcripts, etc.). There is a small technology fee assessed for each online course.
Is the RN to BSN program accredited?
Yes. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the University of Saint Mary is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
