According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, market research analysts study market conditions to examine potential sales of a product or service. Almost all industries participate in market research, so this type of analyst are widely employed. These positions often have to comply with tight deadlines.2
The University of Saint Mary online MBA business analytics concentration requires a total of 33 graduate-level credit hours, which include eight core courses and three of the following concentration courses:
MGT 715 Introduction to Business Analytics
In this course, students will gain a “big picture” understanding of business analytics, how data can be used to make profitable business decisions, and how data analysis can be used to gain a strategic advantage. Students will gain knowledge of the process of developing insights through data to support rapid, precise, reliable, and profitable decision making across management environments such as operations, marketing, and finance. Additionally, students will discuss the benefits, challenges, and misuse of analytics in organizations and in society.
MGT 716 Business Analytics Applications
This course will introduce methodologies and techniques to visualize, procure, and forecast result including various data mining techniques. Students will learn to use analytical tools such as regression, spreadsheet modeling, and other methods to analyze data. Students will also gain an understanding of the methods and ethical implications of web and social media mining and analytics.
MGT 717 Demand and Forecasting
Forecasting is an increasingly essential part of business decision making. The purpose of this course is to teach students the methods needed to make forecasts using data and data analytical tools. Students will learn and apply sampling and resampling methods, model selection, multiple regression, social network analysis, and other data procurement and analytical approaches to develop forecasts and make decisions.
MGT 789 Data Analytics for Decision-Making (Optional)
Evidence‐based accounting and financial decision‐making utilizing data analytics is the focus of this course. Students will study and apply both traditional and big data analytics models to formulate decision alternatives and provide guidance for optimum decision‐making. Data security methodologies, including preventive techniques against cyber‐attacks, will also be studied.
