Rick Gunter is currently the Chair, Department of Business, Accounting, and Sports Management at the Overland Park Campus of the University of Saint Mary (USM). Prior to his current position with USM, Rick spent 30 years in Information Technology working in or with a wide variety of industries including government, manufacturing, telecommunications, banking, and data security. Rick worked for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) for over 16 years as a programmer/analyst, an instructor, a project manager, and the manager of several large software development teams. In the Kansas City area, Rick has worked for Sprint, Commerce Bank, Fishnet Security, and Garmin.
Rick has over 10 years of experience teaching classes in project management, leadership, and organizational behavior at both the graduate and undergraduate level. This includes five years as an Adjunct Professor with USM.
Rick was born and raised in Clarkston, Michigan. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University, and a Master of Business Administration from Mid-America Nazarene University. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration at Saint Leo University. Rick is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). He is an Eagle Scout. In his spare time, Rick enjoys camping and backpacking, watching sports, and is attempting to play more golf.
