Our Mission

As a Catholic institution founded by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, Kansas, the mission at the University of Saint Mary is rooted in our belief in the dignity of each person’s ability to learn and contribute to our diverse society. By promoting a sense of community and a holistic philosophy of educating the whole person, we prepare students for lives and careers that incorporate respect, justice, and excellence.

Our curriculum and teaching methods incorporate the liberal arts with practical, career-oriented skills and knowledge to ensure that graduates find meaning and fulfillment in their lives and continue to realize their Godgiven potential for learning and service.

"In all our ministries we see Christian education as one of the great acts of charity: serving others at the fullest points of their needs and ministering to their need to know and come to the truth, to be opened to the good and the beautiful, to understand the past, to confront and help shape the future, to be called to justice, to be more fully and completely human and Christian."—Constitution of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth
