The University of Saint Mary welcomes members of the military and their dependents and recognizes the special sacrifices they have made. The convenience, flexibility, and portability of our online degree programs are especially beneficial to servicemembers who may be deployed as well as family members affected by frequent moves.
In recognition of the university’s appreciation of the challenges both active and veteran members of the military face, G.I. Jobs named USM a 2011 Military Friendly School for its membership in the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs’ Yellow Ribbon Program and the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC), as well as its dedicated support staff for veterans.
“Veterans bring maturity, seriousness of purpose, and leadership to the classroom,” said USM Academic Vice President Dr. Bryan Le Beau. “As a member of the Leavenworth community, home to Fort Leavenworth, we willingly provide support for veterans. Most importantly, we do what we do for veterans because it is the right thing to do to thank them for the service they have provided all of us.”
If you are currently enlisted in the military, a member of the reserves, or a veteran, we can help you transfer credits, determine if you are eligible for credit based on military duty, and work out your schedule.
- You can apply for benefits through the Veterans Administration. Remember that any veteran's education benefits you receive must be reported on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you are applying for financial aid.
- Fill out a USM Veterans Information Sheet so we can help you determine the benefits available to you.
